Joint XJTLU/ADBI conference 11th CAPE successfully held in IBSS

The Conference on Asia and Pacific Economies (CAPE) was successfully held from May 31 to June 1 at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), a flagship event jointly organized by the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) for the 11th year. The conference brought together scholars, business executives, and policymakers from around the world, featuring 15 general sessions and 5 special sessions organized by ADBI. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and debates on the latest research trends and outcomes in the field of Asia-Pacific economic studies, promoting further development and innovation in the discipline.

The conference commenced with a welcome speech by Professor Jorg Bley, Dean of IBSS, who warmly welcomed all experts and scholars attending the conference. He emphasized the importance and significance of deepening discussions on current global economic dynamics and prospects, enhancing interdisciplinary exchanges and cooperation among academia, business, and policymakers, especially in today’s complex international landscape.

The two-day conference included keynote speeches by Professor Antony W. Dnes, Senior Economic Advisor at Dnes & Felver PLLC in New York, on “Climate and Asia-Pacific Economic Development,” and by Professor Taoxiong Liu, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Executive Dean of the Institute for Innovation and Development at Tsinghua University, on “China’s Data Capital and Economic Growth.”

This conference not only showcased the latest achievements in Asia-Pacific economic research but also provided a platform for exchanges and cooperation among academia, business, and policy makers, further promoting the development and innovation of the Asia-Pacific economic discipline.

This conference is part of the efforts of the Society for the Advancement in Economic Studies (SAES), based within IBSS, which has the vision to become one leading research institution in China with the focus on interdisciplinary economic studies.
