On the afternoon of November 19, 2024, senior students from the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences, School of Science, led by Assistant Professor Xueqing He, visited Suzhou Hongyu Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. for a practical learning experience. The event was supported by Xu Xincheng, Vice President and Secretary General of the Suzhou Environmental Protection Industry Association. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into the operational procedures, work standards, and best practices in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) industry, contributing to high-quality education and research in environmental science and related fields.
Upon arrival, the Hongyu Environmental Technology team warmly welcomed the students. Guided by Rong Tian, General Manager of the Environmental Consulting Division, and Haiming Wang, Deputy General Manager, the students toured the 7th-floor Ecological Testing Division, the 8th-floor Environmental Consulting Division, and the 9th-floor Soil Consulting Division. During the tour, they learned about the responsibilities and work of these departments in environmental monitoring, data collection, analysis, and project consulting. The students also gained a deeper understanding of equipment operations and technological processes, including the proper use of pollutant monitoring instruments and the analysis of their results.
Following the tour, a seminar was held in the company’s conference room. Rong Tian and Haiming Wang hosted the seminar, which was attended by key personnel, including Bing Zhou (Assistant to the President and HR Manager), Bin Zhang (General Manager of the Soil Consulting Division), and Juntao Wang (Deputy General Manager of HuanYou Testing). Haiming Wang provided an in-depth introduction to the company’s development, its range of services, and key case studies, giving students a systematic understanding of work in environmental engineering, investigations, soil analysis, and environmental testing.
Bing Zhou and Bin Zhang shared insights into the qualities the company looks for in prospective employees, emphasizing the importance of enthusiasm, strong work ethic, practical skills, and interdisciplinary knowledge. Juntao Wang discussed emerging trends in the environmental protection industry, offering valuable career guidance and industry foresight for the students.
This valuable visit helped broaden the students’ understanding of the EIA industry and inspired them in their academic pursuits and future career planning.
