On December 5th, IBSS successfully held the 2nd IMBA "Onsite - Insight" Industry Study Tour, in which International MBA (IMBA) students visited Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (Suzhou) Co., Ltd and had in-depth discussions with senior staff on Daily Management in Lean Production.
Trelleborg, established in 1905, is a global industrial multinational group headquartered in Sweden and it is a world leader in engineered polymer solutions. Trelleborg Sealing Systems (Suzhou), established in 2006, is one of the leading developers, manufacturers, and suppliers of precision rubber and plastic products.
Mr. Xiaodong Yuan, General Manager of Trelleborg Sealing Systems (Suzhou), introduced the company's history, business scope, global deployment, and the operation status in Suzhou, helping the participants understand Trelleborg's development history and core competitiveness.
Mr. Guangjun Xu, the company's Operation Manager, delivered a themed presentation on “Daily Management in Lean Production”, detailing the data collection, performance evaluation, and prioritization of problem-solving in lean production. This provided students with a systematic understanding of efficiently collecting data for performance evaluation and effectively addressing production issues.
Subsequently, under the guidance of the company’s technical staff, IMBA students visited the factory and laboratory of Trelleborg. Through on-site observation, the students learned about the advanced production technology and equipment, gaining a deeper understanding of the specific implementation process of lean production. During the visit, IMBA students also engaged in active discussions with representatives of Trelleborg on various aspects of lean production management.
After the event, IMBA Director Dr Nuno Camara commented that IMBA students had benefited greatly from the Onsite-Insight event at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS). . As one IMBA student noted, “Through this visit and learning experience, I have gained a deeper understanding of the management principles of lean production. The on-site demonstrations and technical sharing by Trelleborg were very inspiring, leading me to reflect more on enhancing my own work.” Another IMBA student said, “The successful experience of Trelleborg is of great reference value to our enterprise and management practices. In particular, their approach to data collection and performance evaluation is worth learning and applying.”
The Onsite Insight Industry Study Tour aims to provide a platform for IMBA and part-time master’s students and alumni to gain an in-depth understanding of the current industry situation and future development directions. Through interactive exchanges with industry experts, the activity aims to inspire ideas for management practices and technological innovation. The Onsite Insight series activity will be conducted regularly, offering IMBA students more practical opportunities and industry insights, laying a solid foundation for their future development.
