09 Jan 2025

On December 11, 2024, the faculty and students from the School of Internet of Things at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University visited Advantech Kunshan Technology Center. The Advantech Kunshan Technology Center (AKTC) is a research and development hub collaboratively designed with business partners, serving as a base for cooperative R&D for major clients both in China and globally. The entire AKTC campus is designed with iBuilding as its core, integrating interactivity and energy-saving features, utilizing a combination of Advantech’s intelligent products and solutions to create a green campus that embodies intelligence, technology, and humanity.

Firstly, Mr. Gu Zhenhua, Development Manager of Intelligent Manufacturing Industry, provided a comprehensive introduction to the faculty and students of School of IoT regarding Advantech’s developmental history and its ventures within the IoT domain. Founded in 1983, Advantech has embraced the brand vision of being the “Enabling an Intelligent Planet,” consistently focusing on three primary markets: Industrial IoT, Embedded IoT, and Smart Cities. In anticipation of the burgeoning trends of IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence, Advantech has proposed IoT software and hardware solutions centered around edge intelligence and Advantech Industrial Cloud Platform, assisting clients and partners in connecting the industry chain. Furthermore, Advantech actively promotes co-creation with industry partners, expediting the establishment and growth of the AIoT ecosystem.

To gain a deeper understanding of Advantech's operations, the students visited the company's commercial exhibition hall. During the tour, they gained an intuitive grasp of industrial IoT-related application scenarios, such as smart factories, intelligent transportation systems, energy and environment, and energy storage systems. Moreover, they were exposed to the practical applications of IoT technology across multiple domains, including communication and sensing devices, network technology, as well as edge computing and cloud storage.

Through this visit, the students have gained a deeper understanding of the applications of the Internet of Things in various industries. Looking forward to the future, we anticipate that these students, armed with more solid knowledge and enriched practical experience, will contribute significantly to the advancement of the Internet of Things industry.
