Design School wins eight awards across five categories at international design competition

The Design School at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University has recently  won three Gold Awards, three Silver Awards, one Bronze Award, and one Excellence Award at the 18th IAI Design Awards (Spring Competition) across five different categories, including architectural design, landscape design, interior design, ceramic design, and cultural creative design.

The awards fully demonstrate the Design School’s interdisciplinary teaching approach, diverse creative vision, and innovative strength that combines artistry with practicality on the international stage.

The IAI Design Awards, organised by Asia Pacific Designers Federation (APDF), has been regarded as a new global design award with high recognition and values around the world. This year, it has received 1531 submissions from 20 countries/regions.

The three projects that have won Gold Awards include “Mirage” and “San Tung Fong Commercial Inn” by Jiashi Yu from the Department of Architecture, and “New Forms, New Consciousness” by Ines Essen from the Department of Industrial Design, while “Playing in a Circle” and “Layered dialogues: paper cuts reimagining Beisita garden” also by Ines Essen also have won a Silver Award and an Excellence Award respectively.

“Pan.Orama” by Dr Davide Lombardi and Dr Theodoros Dounas have won another Silver Award, and “Salento Urban Generative AlgoRithm” by Dr Davide Lombardi and Camilla Agnello received an Bronze Award.

Another work, “Return to Dust and Fire - Brick workshop Design in Wuxi” by an architecture student, Ziqi Zhai, received a Silver Award.
