AoLNS integrates all industrial and international collaboration resources inherited from the School of Science and Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy. Supported by the Wisdom Lake Biomedical Innovation Consortium, the Life Sciences Building’s industry-education integration zones, and six leading research centres, AoLNS operates a dual-track strategic partnership system that covers global academic collaboration and in-depth industry cooperation, fully realising the academy’s academia-industry-government-society integration strategy.
AoLNS continuously expands partnerships with global universities, research institutes, leading industrial enterprises and government platforms and other diverse partners. On the academic track, we facilitate international exchange, joint research and collaborative talent training. On the industrial track, we centre on real industrial demands to build full-value-chain channels for talent supply, joint laboratories, technology translation, and industrial services, providing students and faculty with access to cutting-edge research, industrial practice, and global exchange opportunities, and driving mutual advancement between academia and industry.
In-Depth Industry & University Collaboration
Hosted by Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy (the core industrial college within the Wisdom Lake Biomedical Innovation Consortium), AoLNS maintains stable partnerships with over 60 leading enterprises across biomedicine, advanced materials and environmental technology, including multinational pharma, domestic biotech innovators, CROs and high-end materials firms: AstraZeneca, Novartis, Hengrui Medicine, Junshi Biosciences, BeiGene, Innovent Biologics, Ascentage Pharma, Porton Pharma, Crystal Pharmatech, Beaver Biosciences, PegBio, Abogen Biosciences, Simcere Pharmaceutical, etc. We also co-build innovation ecosystems with national research platforms, including the National Technology Innovation Centre for Biopharmaceuticals, the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Core Collaboration Models:
1. Tri-Supervisor Joint Master & PhD Programmes
Joint postgraduate programmes are open to corporate specialists and current students. Research topics directly address corporate R&D pain points under three-way supervision: XJTLU principal supervisor + University of Liverpool supervisor + enterprise industrial supervisor, cultivating interdisciplinary R&D talent that fully matches the pharmaceutical industry’s functional chains.
2. Joint University-Industry Laboratories & Research Institutes
Co-built research platforms with PegBio, Beaver Biosciences, LIANSN Pharma, and other partners, sharing equipment and research teams to jointly advance preclinical formulation and cell therapy projects, accelerating translation from lab discoveries to industrial applications.
3. Industrial Training Bases
Leading firms, including BeiGene, Crystal Pharmatech and Kelun Pharmaceutical, establish official training bases on campus, opening production lines and R&D labs for student rotation training. The MetaLab immersive VR training platform complements offline practice to resolve access limitations of GMP sterile workshops and long-cycle clinical trials.
4. Corporate Scholarships & Talent Support Initiatives
5. Shared Public Technology Platforms
Jointly operated animal facilities, Pharmaceutical Analysis Centres and AI-driven Proof-of-Concept Centre open high-precision instruments and testing services to partner enterprises, lowering SME R&D costs.
6. Industrial Training & Academia-Industry Matchmaking
Custom non-degree micro-programmes and executive workshops for enterprise R&D teams; regular biomedical industry summits to align government, corporate and academic stakeholders.
Global Academic Strategic Partnerships
AoLNS prioritises international academic synergy and maintains a global network of partner institutions. We collaborate long-term with overseas universities, including Taylor’s University (Malaysia), Pusan National University (South Korea), FORTH (Greece) and University of Nebraska Omaha (USA). We also leverage our dual founding partners, Xi’an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool, to deliver joint research projects, staff and student mobility, and dual-supervisor training programmes.
These global partnerships enable cross-border joint research, overseas academic visits and conference participation for our community, broadening global horizons and generating internationally influential interdisciplinary research outputs to boost AoLNS’s global academic standing.
