Call for Student Volunteers

The Department of International Studies at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) invites applications from PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s students to serve as Student Volunteers for the international conference Forging the Future: Politics, Economics, and Society in Global Public Policy to be held on 15 May 2026 at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, South Campus, Suzhou.

Student volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running and overall success of the conference. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an international academic event, interact with leading scholars and policymakers, and become part of a dynamic academic environment.

Volunteers will work under the supervision of the Conference Organising Committee and the School Academic Administrator.

We are looking for 10 enthusiastic students to join our volunteer team.

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from:

  • PhD students
  • Master’s students
  • Bachelor’s students

Applicants must be currently enrolled at XJTLU at the time of the conference.

Responsibilities

Student volunteers will assist with:

  • Pre-conference preparation (materials, coordination with guest speakers and administrative staff)
  • Registration and welcome desk support
  • Assisting speakers and participants
  • Session and room management
  • Basic technical and logistical support
  • Providing directions and general information to attendees

Volunteers are expected to be available on the conference day (15 May 2026) and/or in the months preceding the event.

Required Qualifications

  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a team-oriented attitude
