The Department of International Studies teaches undergraduate and graduate programmes in International Relations, and researches China’s interactions with the world as well as Suzhou’s and the Jiangnan region’s global socioeconomic interactions.
The Department of International Studies at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University was established in 2018. Sitting in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, it aims to be a leading provider of international studies education and research. Our growing department is staffed by research active scholars from all over world, including Australia, Cameroon, China, Italy, Germany, Canada, South Korea, USA, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
The Department of International Studies actively bridges the social sciences with emerging technologies. All programmes integrate tech-driven competencies into their curricula, equipping students to address real-world analytical challenges in fields such as international relations, global business, and transnational affairs. The department has forged strategic partnerships and collaborations with Suzhou—a hub for global investment and innovation. These partnerships provide critical support to develop international case studies grounded in real-world contexts and share high-tech learning resources tailored to social science applications. This synergy ensures students gain the skills needed for high-demand careers in an increasingly digital and interconnected global landscape.
