ProfileDr Kang Chen is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He received BEng and MEng degrees from Chongqing University, in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and a PhD from Nanyang Technological University, in 2018, all in civil engineering.
He had a broad range of research areas related to disaster prevention of building structures, such as structural performance under the impact, progressive collapse and earthquake scenarios. More specifically, he has a strong background in the performance of steel and composite frame subassemblies subjected to impact loading.
His current research interest is computer-aided civil engineering techniques, especially automated design and construction of modular building structures.
He served as a reviewer for several top-tier journals in structural engineering such as ACI Structural Journal, Engineering Structures, Journal of Constructional Steel Research, etc.
