Advanced Semiconductor Research Centre

Advanced Semiconductor Research Centre

Overview

The Advanced Semiconductor Research Centre (ASRC) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is an international research platform jointly developed by XJTLU and the National Centre of Technology Innovation for Advanced Semiconductors (Suzhou). Focused on wide-bandgap semiconductor optoelectronic and integrated technologies, the ASRC is an interdisciplinary, cross-campus and globally collaborative research hub. The centre aims to drive cutting-edge technological breakthroughs to address both industrial and societal needs.

The ASRC also collaborates closely with the China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance (CASA, Beijing) to cultivate high-end talent through a model of industry-academia integration. Leveraging XJTLU’s strengths as a Sino-foreign cooperative university, the centre builds a synergistic innovation network connecting global industries, universities, and research institutions.

Resources & Capabilities

  • Covering more than 2,000 square meters, with equipment investments approaching 30 million RMB, providing advanced third-generation semiconductor fabrication and testing environments.
  • Facilities include micro-nano fabrication labs, testing and analysis labs, and joint verification centres, supporting innovation from fundamental research to industrial application.

Introduction to Collaborative Units

  • National Centre of Technology Innovation for Advanced Semiconductors (Suzhou)

Approved by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the centre is a national R&D platform dedicated to achieving full-chain breakthroughs in core technologies such as gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC). By integrating top-tier research institutes and industry leaders, the centre drives the industrial application of third-generation semiconductors in new energy, next-generation communications, and other critical fields, supporting China’s Dual Carbon strategy and the transformation of high-end manufacturing.

  • China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance (CASA, Beijing)

CASA is a national industrial collaboration organisation jointly established by leading enterprises and research institutions, focusing on formulating key technology standards, fostering industrial chain innovation, and enhancing global competitiveness. By leading the publication of industry white papers and advancing international technical cooperation, CASA builds an open ecosystem, supporting the independent and controllable development of China’s semiconductor industry.
