IBSS Finance Department Academic Staff Visit Suzhou Trust

On March 27, 2023, Professor Hefei Wang, IBSS Associate Dean of Academic Engagement, and Professor Stephen Gong, Head of the IBSS Department of Finance, were invited to visit leading Chinese trust management firm Suzhou Trust alongside several Department of Finance academic staff.

During the visit, Suzhou Trust’s CEO Mr. Zhang Qing introduced the company’s development history and current business outlook. Suzhou Trust’s department managers also presented the business projects that Suzhou Trust hopes to collaborate on with the finance department, including Fund of Funds (FOF) and fixed-income research.

Prof. Hefei Wang, the Associate Dean of Academic Engagement at IBSS, introduced IBSS and described her previous research collaborations with Suzhou Trust, while Professor Stephen Gong spoke on the Department of Finance. These introductions were followed by IBSS’s Doctoral Programme Director, Dr. Qing Ye, and three postgraduate programme directors, Dr. Jia Zhai, Dr. Li Xie and Dr. Haosi Chen, who provided more detail on their respective programmes. IBSS academic staff members Dr. Kevin Zhu and Dr. Jiatao also spoke on their industry experience and academic research.

During the visit, both parties discussed potential research collaboration projects, joint talent internship bases, and employee business training. The visit was a valuable opportunity for both Suzhou Trust and Finance Department faculty to deepen their understanding of each other's strengths and explore potential collaboration opportunities.
