On 5 June, 2023 XJTLU Entrepreneur College(Taicang) Professional Development Programme summer school was kicked off. The students from 7 industry schools will attend the five-week intensive programme in the XJTLU Taicang campus.
PDP is an essential part of the entrepreneur degrees. Each summer, students spend 200 hours engaged in development activities organised with industry.
Year 1 students will start from observe professionals and industrial settings, allowing them to experience a typical day on the job and observe the work environment and demands of the career. Students can gain insight and knowledge in the industry.
Year 2 students will be divided into problem-solving teams based on the projects by industry partners to apply their academic and contemporary entrepreneurialism knowledge to real-world concerns.
The XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) integrates general education, professional education, and entrepreneurship education by building 7 industry schools and Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub with global leading corporate partners.
Students will participate in the 200 hours Professional Development Programme every summer in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3, and will receive a certificate of achievement from XJTLU and the University of Liverpool after passing a total of 600 hours PDP.
At the 2023 PDP opening ceremony, Professor Stuart Perrin, Associate Prrincipal of XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) said that, PDP not only facilitates students to enter in their chosen industry earlier, but also builds a platform for students to work together and solve practical problems.
Professor Stuart Perrin also introduce the arrangement of PDP. He said that, PDP is an essential part of the entrepreneurial education and bespoke and designed by referring to the specific degree programme. PDP will help students understand the future industry trends and enhance social adaptive capacity.
The achievements of first batch of undergraduate graduates from the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) in professional and industry field have impressed many leading universities.
The first UG students gained admissions including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Yale University, Stanford University, Imperial College, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Duke University, etc.
The Year 1 students also expressed their expectation of PDP, "In PDP we will have opportunities to get in touch with the entrepreneurs in the industry, to learn the latest industry information, and also to develop our horizons through enterprise visits and improve our hard and soft strengths in the diversified courses."
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Programme directors, academic staff team and teaching assistants in the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang).
