Experience

Dr Shuihua Wang received her PhD degree from Nanjing University in 2017. She worked as Assistant Professor at Nanjing Normal University (2013-2018) and served as a Research Associate at Loughborough University (2018-2019), Research Associate and Lecturer at the University of Leicester (2019-2023). Now, she is working as an Associate Professor at Xi’an jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Her research interests focus on Machine learning, Deep learning, Image processing, Information fusion, Data analysis, MRI sensors, CT sensors. She has published high-quality papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences in these research areas. So far, she has successfully secured several external funding and supervised several graduate students.

She serves as a professional reviewer for many well-reputed journals and conferences including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Neurocomputing, Pattern Recognition, Scientific Reports, and so on. She serves as Guest Editor of Information Processing and Management, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Machine Vision and Applications, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and Measurement, Scientific Reports. She serves as Associate Editor of Information fusion, Neural Networks, and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT).

Research and Wishes

Dr Shuihua Wang will teach the course "Artificial Intelligence for Life Science" at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, mainly for undergraduate students. In her teaching curriculum, she will focus on helping students gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles, technologies, and concepts of artificial intelligence (AI). These principles include machine learning, deep learning, image processing, information fusion, data analysis, and sensor technologies such as CT.

In addition to the current teaching focus, Dr Wang's main research interests include machine learning, deep learning, image processing, information fusion, data analysis, and various medical imaging sensors. Her long-term research goal revolves around how to use stable and robust methods to develop models and efficient algorithms for large-scale and multimodal data, for the benefit of people.

"XJTLU is a famous and leading international university in Jiangsu, China. I am also impressed by its diverse and inclusive environment as well as the modern campus. Suzhou is very close to my hometown and will provide me with a lot of convenience to take care of my family."

Experience

Professor Antonio Postigo earned his degree in Medicine (M.D.), specialty board in immunology and a PhD in Immunology from the University of Madrid, including a 9-month stay at the University of California, San Francisco (United States). He then moved to the United States, where he spent 10 years at Washington University, conducting research on gene regulation of cell cycle and development. Subsequently, he moved to ICREA and FCRB-IDIBAPS in Barcelona, Spain to research gene expression regulation in health and disease.

Research and Wishes

At XJTLU, Professor Postigo teaches Molecular Immunology (BIO309), Molecular Biology Techniques (BIOI113) and Research Methods in post-Genomics Biology (BIO403). Apart from his current teaching focus in gene regulation in immunology. His research focuses on mechanisms of cell function rather than specific tissues or diseases, so it has the potential to contribute to various fields and foster collaboration with XJTLU researchers working in multiple research areas. Thus, one of his short-term goals is to leverage the expertise at the AI XJTLU Research Centre to apply it to his research. Professor Postigo is passionate about research and teaching, and he is committed to bringing positive impacts to the academic community and people's daily lives through his own efforts.

"I joined the Department of Biological Sciences at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is because I think it is a great opportunity to conduct research and teaching in a rapidly expanding university and Department. I have only been in Suzhou for about a month I have been very busy. Therefore, I haven't had a chance to explore the city yet, but have heard that Suzhou is a very beautiful livable city, and I look forward to being able to explore it and appreciate it."
