Recently, Mr. Zhiqin Ni, Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Intelligent Operations and Marketing of IBSS, has been authorized with two national invention patents for his scientific research "Dangerous Goods Logistics Monitoring and Risk Assessment Platform Based on Internet of Things (IoT) Technology."

This invention is a dangerous goods risk management platform capable of real-time monitoring of the dangerous goods logistics process, abnormality warning, and immediate disposal. Its system is an integrated hardware and software platform based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Bluetooth communication (BLE), and security protocols. It is capable of providing timely and clear status information on the temperature, humidity, impact, and tilt of dangerous goods to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the logistics process. It instantly warns of risks, and in the event of an emergency contingency, provides complete information in a very short period, facilitating administrators to make the most favorable decisions for the current situation.

Mr. Ni said that he and his team have been working on the project since 2018, and after several rounds of rigorous examination, they finally succeeded in obtaining patent authorization. The platform adopts a multi-port design with two ports: WeChat applet and webpage. Real-time cloud synchronization of transport information of vehicles and goods effectively connects every stakeholder in the transport chain.

Regarding the real-world application of this platform, Mr. Ni stated that his anticipated application scenario is the transport of dangerous goods. To this end, he and his team have also established three major dangerous goods knowledge bases - lithium batteries, organic peroxides, and hydrogen, to further improve the platform's application rules and better assist scientific decision-making and guidance at the far end.

At present, he is steadily promoting cooperation with relevant enterprises and looks forward to accelerating in-depth cooperation with enterprises or government departments in the future with the support of relevant regulations and policies, to realize the commercialization of the technology at an early date and further enhance safety and security during the transportation of dangerous goods and reduce losses.
