Professor Wei Chen officially joined XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) as the Dean of the School of CHIPS on 2 January 2024.
Professor Chen received his undergraduate degree from Jilin University, his master’s from Central South University and his PhD in Chemistry from Peking University. He previously held the position of University Distinguished Professor within the physics department at the University of Texas Arlington in the USA. He has authored over 350 publications in scholarly journals, overseeing the compilation of two books, one monograph spanning three volumes, and contributing to the creation of 15 monographs.
His works have amassed more than 17,599 citations, resulting in an H-index of 66. Professor Chen has coauthored a paper with 757 citations and four others with over 630 citations each.
Professor Chen's scientific endeavours have been granted over 22 US patents, and he has been interviewed and featured by CBS in the USA. In acknowledgement of his contributions, he received the University Distinguished Record of Research and Creative Activity Award in 2020. In 2021, he was elected a Fellow of the International Association of Advanced Materials and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
In 2022, he received the IMMA Scientist Award for contributions to Nanotechnology. In the same year, he was elected as a Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors in 2022 and as a member of the University Academy of Distinguished Scholars in 2023 at the University of Texas Arlington.
Professor Chen also served as the Director of the Center for Security Advances Via Applied Nanotechnology (SAVANT) from 2012 to 2018. He was the deputy director for the Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials at the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and received the Young Outstanding Scientist Award from CAS.
