Hands-on experience is a key component of our electrical and electronic engineering degree programmes. As such, the Department places great importance on the establishment and improvement of teaching and research labs.
We aim to strengthen collaboration with the University of Liverpool as well as other universities, research institutions and companies to set up more and more specialised labs with advanced equipment and cutting-edge technology.
Currently, for teaching purposes, the Department has established an electronic laboratory, electric machine laboratory, an ARM laboratory, altera laboratory and a tanner tools laboratory all fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment. The Department is also progressively setting up new lab facilities such as:
High Frequency Engineering Laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and measurement facilities including a 6 x 4 x 3m pyramidal-cone anechoic chamber, Vector Network Analysers and LPKF ProtoMat printed circuit board fabrication equipment
Power electronic laboratory
Telecommunication laboratory
Renewable energy laboratory.
In addition, RMB 15 million has been invested in state-of-the-art equipment in the Department’s microelectronics and photonics laboratories, including a 200m2 class 1K room and a class 10K room.
To enable flexible learning and stimulate research initiatives among students, electrical and electronic engineering lab facilities have been made available to students when there are no teaching activities arranged.
