Modern Languages Centre

The Modern Languages Centre focuses on education in Chinese, Japanese and Spanish.

Modern Languages Centre

In its founding year of 2006, XJTLU created its Language Centre (LC) for teaching English for Academic Purposes, Chinese, and Spanish. The LC grew rapidly from that time and, with the addition of Japanese language classes in 2019, the Language Centre was reorganised into two centres: the Modern Languages Centre (MLC) and the English Language Centre (ELC). These two centres make up the new School of Languages, which was founded in September of 2020.

The MLC is committed to education services in Chinese, Spanish and Japanese. The MLC, a rapidly growing centre with over 40 administrative and teaching staff members, combines a communicative approach and task-based teaching in the classroom to improve students’ modern language listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
