Chinese Cultural Teaching Centre

The Chinese Cultural Teaching Centre (CCTC) was established early in XJTLU’s development and is a teaching and research centre responsible for delivering general social science modules in compulsory modules, optional modules, micro-lectures, online modules and activity classes. We are primarily involved in teaching credit-bearing fundamental modules of Cultural, History, Law, Situation and Policies; Self-Management and Psychology modules for all students. In addition, we teach non-credit-bearing modules and optional modules which covering science, human and society philosophy, skills and languages study.

Core Value

Chinese Cultural Teaching Centre adheres to the fundamental task of "cultivating morality and cultivating people", adheres to the "eight unifications", and integrates ideological and political work throughout the entire process of education and teaching, achieving the organic unity of knowledge impartment, ability cultivation, and value guidance, and cultivating high-quality talents with socialist ideals, national spirit, and spirit of the times, as well as responsibility, solid knowledge, practical ability, and physical and mental health.

Five-module system teaching platform

Compulsory modules

The compulsory modules include five ideological and political modules such as Introduction to Basic Principles of Marxism and three general education modules such as Self-Management and Psychological Education. The operation of compulsory modules has a very clear and rigorous process, which is referred to as “2+2+2”, which means “two hours of pre-class knowledge preparation “, “two hours of in-class thinking and discussion”, and “two hours of post-class exploration and practice”.

Optional modules

Optional modules are non-credit modules that expand and supplement the content of the compulsory modules. Topics that cannot be covered within the confines of the compulsory modules may be subdivided and explored in depth through optional modules.

Micro-lectures

Micro-lectures are the most effective way to promote active learning and research-based learning, which can reach all teachers, students, parents, and even alumni. The typical format of micro-lectures is a three-minute video, which may take various forms, such as a single short film or a series. The content derives entirely from real life, expressing viewpoints or teaching skills.

Online modules

Online modules can break through the limitations of time and geography, and utilising up-to-date teaching methods. Tailored to young students, online classes employ familiar language, preferred viewing and listening styles, and common media platforms, such as microblogs, WeChat, and official accounts, to seamlessly integrate knowledge into students’ lives, thereby further merging module content with extracurricular knowledge.

Activity classes

Activity classes primarily involve various types of student and academic activities. They enhance interaction and communication between teachers and students while fostering greater interest in learning, thus achieving “teaching through fun.” By using spare time to extend and supplement module content through activities, we aim to enrich teaching methods, allowing students to learn in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
