International Chinese Language Day

Every April during the Grain Rain (the sixth of the 24 Chinese solar terms), International Chinese Language Day transforms the XJTLU campus into a celebration of Chinese language and culture. We organise activities for international students from our University and other institutions. Activities include Chinese song competitions, Chinese poetry recitation contests, intangible cultural heritage workshops, and traditional culture markets hosted by student clubs. This signature event organically integrates Chinese traditional culture with international Chinese language education. The event provides opportunities for communication and interaction among international youth and facilitates mutual understanding and sharing between different cultures.

Field Trips

Each semester, we organise visits to Suzhou and its surrounding areas for students. Under the guidance of professional Chinese teachers and bilingual tour guides, students apply their language skills in real-life situations. They experience the local culture in Suzhou and the surrounding areas first-hand through visits and personal experiences. These activities, which have included climbing Qionglong Mountain, picking autumn fruit, and tea-picking and tea-making experiences, have earned enthusiastic student responses.
