These modules are the cornerstone of a comprehensive approach to preparing students who want to teach Chinese as a second language.
They provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge essential for understanding second language acquisition and effective language education. Students explore aspects of language learning, teaching methodologies, and cultural considerations through a blend of linguistic theory and pedagogical practice.
The modules enable students to critically engage with the complexities of language education and address the diverse needs of learners in a global context.
Continuing Support
Continuing Support provides broad-based extracurricular assistance to enhance international students’ Chinese language proficiency and cultural understanding beyond the classroom.
We offer a variety of language and cultural workshops, including making traditional handicrafts, food tasting, introductions to essential Chinese apps, and guidance on Chinese CV writing. These workshops enhance students’ Chinese language skills through immersive experiences, build friendships, develop cross-cultural competencies, and provide enjoyment.
Language modules
We deliver progressive stages of Chinese language and Business Chinese modules using tailored materials for students with a wide range of Chinese learning backgrounds and needs. During Year One, international students typically take stage 1 (beginner) Chinese Language modules to facilitate adaptation to life in China.
Students with more advanced Chinese language skills may study Business Chinese, which integrates language knowledge, business knowledge, and fieldwork activities. Business Chinese adopts a project-based learning approach to develop students’ critical thinking and abilities to solve real-world problems.
