Visiting programme

Overview

XJTLU makes China accessible for international and domestic visiting students no matter your study interest. With curriculum all taught in English, study areas include sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, architecture and design, communications, media, business, humanities and social sciences – all combined with Chinese language and in-depth study of China, taught by some of Asia’s foremost experts.

Who are our courses designed for?

  • International students who want to come to China to study and explore China’s vast and varied landscapes, ancient cultures and dynamic economic development.
  • Domestic Students who are overseas university registered students and would like to study as a visiting student in China.

Studying as a full time “visiting students”, you will not be able to get any degree of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) or University of Liverpool (UoL) and the credits you obtained in XJTLU should be accepted by your home university.

Modules


Students normally study 10-20 credits per semester. Choose your modules (also known as classes or courses at other universities) in order of preference when you submit your selections to XJTLU. Please refer to our module catalogue and specifications here. Your module selections should be approved by your home university before you submit them to XJTLU.

3 CCS and 1 CLT per semester studying full academic year could lead to the achievement of Diploma in China Studies.

You should apply for more modules than you need, in case we are unable to confirm your first choice because of timetabling clashes and/or module changes.


The first number in the module code refers to the undergraduate level at XJTLU (0, 1, 2, and 3). Undergraduate degree courses at XJTLU are four years with general education covered in level zero. Degree-specific content is taught at levels one, two and three according to the typical three-year model in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Note: The first number for masters module codes is four. The first number for non-credit-bearing modules is nine. Masters modules are not available for undergraduate students.

 

Study routes

You can take up to 25 credits per semester. 20 credits is a full credit load and is equivalent to 30 ETCS credits. Some modules require previous study in the subject or in related disciplines. If you choose a full credit load of 20 credits per semester, we offer you a 5 credits of Chinese Language course free of charge.

Fees


Visiting students’ tuition fee for undergraduate level is RMB 11,000 for every five credits and RMB 5,500 for every 2.5 credits.

Undergraduate level visiting students’ application deadline is 15 June 2024(including payment).
