16th International One-day Zebrafish Neuroscience and Neurophenotyping Workshop

16th International One-day Zebrafish Neuroscience and Neurophenotyping Workshop

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Suzhou, China, September 25, 2024 (in conjunction with 17th Chinese Neuroscience Society CNS2024 Annual meeting, Suzhou, China, September 26-29, 2024)

Maximum capacity: 25 participants

Audience: PIs/Faculty members, lab staff, postdocs, as well as graduate and undergraduate students interested in zebrafish neuroscience and CNS disease modeling.

General introduction: Today, zebrafish (Danio rerio) are, after mice, the second most used animal model species in biomedicine. As more and more labs are establishing zebrafish projects, zebrafish are rapidly becoming a popular model organism for neuroscience research. This day-

long Workshop consists of a series of lectures covering major neuroscience domains and advanced phenotyping techniques for probing normal and pathological CNS conditions in zebrafish. The lectures will be followed by informal breakout sessions discussing the practical application of zebrafish CNS drug screens, 2D and 3D behavioral analyses, video-tracking tools, and future new directions in the field. Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to present their own data, discuss their research problems, and obtain expert consultation from workshop organizers and speakers.

Language: English

Organizer: Professor Alan V. Kaluev, PhD, School of Science, Xi’an Jiaotong –Liverpool University, Chair of the International Zebrafish Neuroscience Research Consortium (ZNRC).

XJTLU is an international joint venture university founded by Xi’an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the UK in 2006.The University offers more than 100 degree programs in science, engineering, business, finance, architecture, urban planning, language, culture taught in English. XJTLU is located in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), China’s equivalent of Silicon Valley and a hub of global innovation, houses a large cluster of Fortune 500 companies, transnational enterprises and R&D centers.

City of Suzhou: Suzhou (Wu) is an ancient city in Jiangsu Province (China) located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, near Shanghai. Suzhou has a recorded history of more than 4,000 years, and is one of the oldest existing cities in China. Suzhou has become a famous tourist destination for its garden art and Jiangnan water town style. Suzhou is extremely rich in natural and historical landscapes, with as many as 6 national 5A-level tourist attractions. Suzhou Gardens (6th -11th century AD) are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The workshop is located at the XJTLU main campus, only 30 min by taxi away from the old town of Suzhou.
