XJTLU has recently become a member of United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), an initiative that unites institutions of higher education to help realise United Nations goals and mandates through research and education.
UNAI now has nearly 1,500 academic and research institutions in 147 countries as its members to promote global priorities, including peace, human rights, and sustainable development.
XJTLU will be able to benefit from the platform provided by UNAI for connecting institutions with similar goals, says Dr Konstantinos Papadikis, Dean of Design School at XJTLU.
“We will have access to the resource of information on UN initiatives and activities that are of interest to the academic community,” says Dr Papadikis.
“As UNAI members, there are chances for our best practices and research to be promoted within their vast network,” he adds.
Dr Yiping Dong, the UN link coordinator and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture and Design at XJTLU, says that students and staff also enjoy the opportunity to be invited to in-person and virtual events of UNAI.
“In addition to event invitations, we will also receive information on scholarships, fellowships and contests for students, and symposia, conferences, workshops and calls for papers for researchers and academics,” Dr Dong says.
“Our campus activities and research also could be showcased on UNAI platforms, including their social media and weekly newsletter.”
