XJTLU and LIANSN establish joint institute

Focusing on transdermal drug delivery systems (TDDS), XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy has started a cooperation with LIANSN, a pharmaceutical company in Guizhou Province.

The XJTLU-LIANSN Joint Institute for Transdermal Drug Research was officially launched at XJTLU on 16 February by Dr Yimin Ding, Vice President of XJTLU, and Hongfeng Wang, President of LIANSN.

In his speech at the launch event, Professor Lei Fu, head of the Institute and Associate Dean of the Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy, said that the Institute will focus on the research and development of transdermal drugs and delivery devices, catering to societal and market demands.

“Transdermal administration allows a drug to enter the bloodstream directly through the skin, avoiding side effects such as discomfort in the digestive system. It is used in the treatment of diabetes, chronic pain, skin diseases, aesthetic medicine and other fields,” he said.

“XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy is committed to medical innovation and the development of advanced technologies by connecting high quality resources in and outside China.”

Hongfeng Wang, President of LIANSN, said: “This cooperation is of great significance to LIANSN’s future TDDS research and development. I hope the two sides will jointly establish an effective cooperation mechanism, thus promoting the transformation of research outcomes and the progress of China's transdermal industry.”

LIANSN puts great emphasis on TDDS, conducting research and development of TDDS technologies and products to build a product matrix. As of today, it has already launched 11 TDDS drugs and devices.

Attendees of the launch ceremony included: Dr Yimin Ding, Vice President of XJTLU; Professor Mu Wang, Executive Dean of XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy; Professor Lei Fu, Associate Dean of the Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy; Hongfeng Wang, President of LIANSN; and heads of LIANSN’s research and development, manufacturing and marketing departments.
