School of Science
This programme leads to a University of Liverpool degree which is recognised by Ministry of Education, China.
Knowledge and skills
By the time you graduate from the MRes Molecular Bioscience programme, you will have:
- key transferable skills relevant to a range of careers and industries, such as data analysis, report writing, team building and networking, and project management
- specialised knowledge in an area of molecular bioscience that suits your interests and career ambitions
- a range of critical interdisciplinary research skills and a strong understanding of the theoretical background and practical implementation of an intensive research project.
Our MRes programme was designed for research-oriented students looking to progress to high-calibre PhD study in molecular bioscience or employment in the biotechnology industry.

The university offers a broad range of activities aiming to enrich master students’ theoretical and experiential learning and professional development. Trainings, workshops and seminars, covering varieties of themes and topics, both generic and subject-specific, are often offered at both university and school/department levels. You may also be provided with opportunities to work as a teaching assistant, research assistant, or intern at XJTLU. Depending on the programme, field trips and company visits may be organized, and invited talks may be given by the industrial experts and professionals. Such activities will not only support you in your programme study, but also develop your personal and professional skills and enhance your overall employability.
TIMETABLE
Please note that this part-time programme will be mainly delivered on weekdays (From Monday to Friday) with full-time students.
Everyone at the department of Biological Sciences made me feel at home in China from the very first day I set foot in the laboratory. The combination of state-of-the-art facilities and a talented mix of experienced Chinese and international staff members makes an excellent environment to study and perform cutting-edge research.

Careers
Graduates from this programme are well prepared for advanced research careers in both international and Chinese university settings, as well as in the bio-industrial sector in areas such as biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. The programme also provides a solid foundation for pursuing a PhD.
Overview
The MRes Molecular Bioscience programme provides a thorough understanding of the key principles and advanced approaches for studying biological processes at the molecular level.
The programme combines four mandatory modules which cover advanced biotechnology-related topics (such as molecular biology, protein biochemistry and drug discovery), and modules on post-genomic biology, bioinformatics and project management.
With a major focus on research project and specialised dissertation. Your studies will guided by a customised learning plan, taking into account your background, interests and career aspirations.
The programme also provides additional learning activities (such as Spanish, Chinese culture studies, career development, work placement, teaching assistantship).
The programme established in 2015 at School of Science,it has internationally respected principle investigators and excellent teaching and laboratory infrastructure. It offers both full-time (24 months) and part-time (36 months) enrollment options. For Part-time route, applicants from both the society and pharmaceutical/biotech companies on-job training can apply for the part-time enrolment route.
Why should I study Molecular Bioscience at XJTLU?
