Start date at XJTLU: August 2015Charlie Reis is an Educational Developer for Learning and Teaching, Director of XJTLU's Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education (PGCert), and Director of the Educational Development Unit. He is also the founder of the China-based Association for Partnership in Educational Development (CAPED). He has previously worked for Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai (2011-2015), and Boricua College, New York City (2007-2011).
Charlie is working on a PhD about enhancing contemporary learning and teaching using classical Chinese knowledge. Charlie has an masters degree in education from Pace University, New York, an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Oregon, Eugene, and has been a teacher since 2005. He travelled to China for the first time as a tourist in 2006 after becoming interested in the fictional country presented by Mo Yan. His research interests include pedagogy, engagement and motivation, educational development, leadership development, transnational education, classical Chinese philosophy, student autonomy, Chinese literature and culture, travel writing, and his cat.
