Staff members from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University met with Executive President Professor Youmin Xi and other senior managers to discuss important issues concerning the University’s strategic development.

Professor Xi gave a presentation about the planning and construction of the new campus at Taicang: now known as XJTLU Entrepreneur College.

He spoke about strategic plans for the Entrepreneur College including conceptual designs, development of its education model, and the six Industry Schools which will be equivalent to academic departments.

“The Entrepreneur College will also feature training services to help students better adapt to society and their future careers," said Professor Xi.

In an interactive session, staff members asked questions about the Entrepreneur College.

A staff member from the Department of Architecture was very interested in the plans for corporate engagement. “How will collaborations be carried out, specifically?” he asked.

“The Industry Schools will have full-time staff from both academic and industrial backgrounds, and part-time staff who also work in industry,” said Professor Xi.

Admission and teaching were also subjects of discussion among the University staff present. “How will the Entrepreneur College recruit students?” a staff member asked.

Professor Xi mentioned that there are plans to admit 300 students to the Entrepreneur College in September 2019.

“The students will be selected from Year One students at XJTLU who will have the choice to continue their education at the Suzhou Campus, or to begin Year Two at the Entrepreneur College at Taicang following the new educational model for internationalised industrial elites,” said Professor Xi.

Another afternoon tea sessions with the University’s senior management team will be held next semester with the aim of encouraging discussion with staff members.
