The XJTLU ESP Reading Group aims to create a space in which academics, practitioners and students can come together to explore key readings, ideas and materials in various sub-fields of ESP.
We endeavour to find ways of talking across the different sub-fields of ESP. Topics include, but are not limited to:
Our endeavour is to find ways of talking across the different sub-fields of ESP. Topics include but are not limited to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), second language acquisition (SLA) in specialised contexts, needs analysis, curriculum development and evaluation, materials preparation, discourse analysis, descriptions of specialised varieties of English, teaching and testing techniques, the effectiveness of various approaches to language learning and language teaching, and the training or retraining of teachers for the teaching of ESP.
We welcome participation from colleagues and students interested and/or engaged in the above areas. We will utilise readings from books and international peer-reviewed journals, such as English for Specific Purposes (Elsevier) and International Journal of English for Academic Purposes: Research and Practice (UoL Press)
If you are interested in reading research papers on ESP, feel free to download papers from the International Journal of English for Academic Purposes: Research and Practice (IJEAP), an open-access periodical published by Liverpool University Press, the UK’s third oldest university press. IJEAP does not impose any charges for publication or peer review for any submissions.
