The academic staff of the Department of Literature are all experienced teachers and committed
researchers. Research-informed teaching ensures our modules ask students to participate in
the latest thinking on a wide range of cultural and intellectual traditions. We teach our
students to think critically about complex topics from different perspectives and to present
their ideas in a variety of formats, but always in fluent and persuasive ways. Our expertise spans
a range of literary periods and movements, including Romanticism, the Victorian, Modernism,
Postmodern and Contemporary, and Ecocriticism.
