Professor Qiuling Chao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Information of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, led an XJTLU delegation to visit Russia from 16-26 April. During the 11-day visit, the delegation met with nearly 20 leading Russian universities and high schools. They discussed the education of international students in China, student mobility, academic staff visits, and other topics.
The delegation included Xiaoqiong Li, Manager of XJTLU Global, and Xiye Zhu, Executive Assistant and Manager for Overseas Study.
During their visits to the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University), Moscow State University, and St Petersburg State University, they discussed academic staff development, research, and student mobility, reaching agreements.

The delegation also visited the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). With Professor Clément Fortin, Dean of the School of Education, and other Institute staff, they discussed student education in STEM fields and collaboration possibilities among academic staff including research, visits, and academic conferences.

During visits to nine local high schools, the delegation learned about the willingness and potential for the schools’ students to study in China. At the visits, the XJTLU delegation presented the University’s recent developments, its advantages, and its talent strategy.

Professor Chao said that this visit is an important part of XJTLU’s promotion of education opening to the outside world and the education action that is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. It has added vitality to communications between XJTLU and the Russian education community, she added.
