Laboratory Animal Centre

Laboratory Animal Centre

The Laboratory Animal Centre (LAC) of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is located on the 16th floor of the North Tower of the Life Sciences Building at XJTLU North Campus, with a total floor area of approximately 2,300 square meters. It can house approximately 3,500 mouse cages and 800 rat cages simultaneously. The centre is equipped with specialised functional areas, including behavioural testing laboratories, operating rooms, an imaging laboratory, and dissection rooms. Together, these facilities form an integrated support platform that covers animal housing, experimental procedures, and data analysis, providing efficient and standardised full-process support for scientific research.

The core function of the Animal Centre is to support the university’s scientific research. While prioritising the needs of on-campus research groups, any remaining capacity will be made available to the public, aiming to become an open platform for resource sharing and to serve the broader scientific research community.

Based on scientific research needs, the Animal Centre provides integrated technical services to all users, including standardised animal housing and management, technical support for animal experiments (e.g., drug administration, blood sampling, anaesthesia), as well as training on animal experiment procedures and equipment operation. These services fully address diverse needs ranging from basic research to translational application.
