The Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology (AIAT) focuses on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) through its integration with emerging technologies and industries. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach that combines AI with fields such as biomedicine, automation, microelectronics, network communication, new energy, and advanced materials.

Guided by the latest scientific research and technological innovation, the Academy is committed to building an agile research culture that combines academia with technology and its applications. It aims to become a source of technological innovation and a leader in technology transfer for the development of AI in industry.

The AIAT’s research ecosystem is founded on three core values:

  • Interdisciplinary integration: maintaining an open approach to research by integrating AI with related scientific, technological and social science disciplines;
  • Cooperation: encouraging collaboration within the Academy, between departments and institutions, and across academic fields, both regionally and internationally; and
  • Resource integration: combining resources across industry, academia and research institutions; encouraging comprehensive research and technology transfer; and empowering industrial development.

The Academy emphasises high-level academic research and is committed to advancing industrial applications. It also seeks solutions to real-world problems through rigorous theoretical and applied research.

Alongside publishing high-quality academic research, the AIAT aims to develop technologies with practical applications that contribute to industrial development. In doing so, it seeks to create a continuous pathway from academic research to technological products and solutions. This supports a research+application model driven by technological innovation and industrial application.

The Academy actively engages with universities, research institutions and industry partners to establish high-level international academic and research collaborations, while enhancing its influence in academia and industry. It has established partnerships with China Unicom, Apple Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Nokia Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., the Lego Group, IBM, and the Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The AIAT also offers internship programmes that provide students with practical experience and

Focused on the interdisciplinary integration of AI and related emerging technologies, and centred on key research and industry areas, the Academy has established the following research centres:

  • Intelligent Mediamatics and Data Science;
  • Cognitive Intelligence and Agentic AI;
  • AI for Healthcare and Biomedicine;
