From January 3 to 4, 2026, the 24th International Business and Economics Conference (IBEC) came to a successful conclusion at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). As the flagship conference of a non-profit academic organization registered in Tennessee, USA, IBEC has evolved into a highly influential global platform for business and economic exchanges over more than two decades. Hosted by IBSS XJTLU, this year’s conference marked its return to China after many years, attracting top scholars from around the world to engage in academic discourse.
With the core theme of "Shocks and Resilience: Pathways to Financial Stability Amid Geopolitical Risks", the conference focused on several key domains: accounting, economics and finance, as well as management and marketing. It featured a diverse range of sessions including keynote speeches, parallel panel discussions and best paper awards, aiming to build a bridge for global scholars and practitioners to exchange ideas and explore corporate strategies and industry development paths amid global economic changes. As a high-level international academic event, the conference brought together over 20 presenters from more than 10 renowned universities at home and abroad, including Nanyang Technological University, Australian National University and Monash University. Scholars conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as environmental risk and financial outcomes, asset pricing and investor behavior, corporate governance and the algorithmic economy, AI and sustainable innovation, and market dynamics under uncertainty. The event delivered a thought-provoking academic feast with both profound theoretical insights and practical significance, offering diverse perspectives for theoretical research and practical applications in related fields. The opening ceremony was hosted by Dr. Edwin Ruan, Senior Associate Professor of Finance and Jiangsu Distinguished Professor at IBSS XJTLU. His rigorous reasoning and unique insights sparked extensive resonance and lively discussions among the scholars present. After the keynote speech, the conference proceeded to the parallel panel discussion phase, where 6 parallel sessions carried out academic exchanges simultaneously. Participating scholars shared their latest research findings and engaged in in-depth discussions on hot and difficult issues in related fields, yielding fruitful academic outcomes.
