Research Clusters

Research clusters in the Department of Media and Communication help facilitate collaboration, promote knowledge sharing, and foster a supportive environment for colleagues and students. Currently, there are four research clusters:

Digital Technology and Changing Society

Culture, Creativity and Communication

Journalism and Society

Screen Studies and Popular Culture

The research clusters are designed to foster a sense of belonging and a shared identity among colleagues with similar research interests. They work to cultivate a research community by bringing together established and early-career scholars, including doctoral and other students. However, the clusters may overlap in their interests and approaches, and members may belong to more than one cluster.

Independent researchers within a cluster find support and encouragement from others with similar interests. Research clusters use their shared identity to connect with similar clusters, groups, or institutions elsewhere, promoting cooperation with other academics or government, business, or social institutions with aligned interests.

The clusters also highlight broad areas of interest of their members, helping those seeking support to identify potential collaborators, consultants, and supervisors.
