Teaching Assistants in the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem

Applications are invited for teaching assistant (TA) positions in the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). The TA positions are open for all qualified interested graduate students (Masters and PhD students) on the campus of XJTLU or other graduates in Suzhou.

TA duties include:

• Assist in lab sessions, such as experiment preparation, setup and monitoring
• Collect students’ questions, and answer students’ quick questions in tutorial and lab sessions
• Invigilation of formal examinations
• Other appropriate activities as determined by module leaders

Modules include

• MFE108TC Introduction to Mechatronics, 19 February- 7 April 2024
• MFE112TC Pneumatic and Hydraulic Technology, 1 April- 31 May 2024
• MFE204TC Additive Manufacturing, 19 February- 7 April 2024
• MFE201TC Principle of Mechanical Design (one TA), 1 April- 31 May 2024

Skills and requirements

• Proficient spoken and written English
• Work onsite on the XJTLU Taicang campus
• MFE108TC: Mechatronics/electrical engineering background needed
• MFE112TC: Fluid dynamics mechanical engineering background required
• MFE204TC: Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis background required; Matlab knowledge needed
• MFE208TC: Additive Manufacturing background required; CAM Software Development in Python, VTK knowledge needed

The pay rate for Academic Year 2023-24

• XJTLU PhD students: CNY60/hour (before tax)
• XJTLU Master’s students: CNY50/hour (before tax)
• PhD and Master’s students from other universities: CNY50/hour (before tax)
