Teaching Assistants Recruitment

Applications are invited for the Teaching Assistant (TA) positions in the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). The TA positions are open for all qualified interested graduate students (Masters and PhD students) on the campus of XJTLU or other graduates in Suzhou.

TA duties include:

• Laboratory demonstration and support for practical work in the classroom
•  Attendance on and support with field courses
• Group tutoring
• Scheduled office hours for one-to-one tutoring
• Invigilation of formal examinations and/or class tests
• Marking of formative assignments with appropriate training
• Other appropriate activities as determined by academic units

Modules and requirements

• MFE107TC: Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics

Module leader: Long Huang
Background Requirement: MS/PhD Student with relevant background
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with experimental and computer lab
2. Tutor student on projects with EES/Matlab/Python hands on help

• MFE108TC: Introduction to Mechatronics

Module leader: Wei Chen
Background Requirement: MS/PhD Student with relevant background
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with Tutorial classes – arrangement and during the class
2. Assist with Solidwork Lab sessions – guidance, etc
3. Assist with Mechanical Lab sessions – leading and guiding
4. Assist in the preparation of teaching/tutorial/lab materials

• MFE110TC: Engineering Drawing

Module leader: Yue Yang
Background Requirement: PhD Student with relevant backgrounds
Responsibilities:
1. Lab Support: Assisting students during laboratory sessions by answering technical questions, providing guidance on practical tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of lab activities
2. Question Collection: Actively engaging with students during lectures to identify and collect questions or areas of confusion that may arise, facilitating a more interactive and effective learning environment
3. Academic Support: Offering academic support in the form of tutorials, helping students with understanding course materials, and providing additional explanations as needed
4. Communication: Serving as a liaison between the students and the module leader, ensuring that student feedback and concerns are communicated effectively

Module leader: Abhishek Kandwal
Background Requirement: PhD Student with relevant backgrounds
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with Tutorial classes – arrangement and during the class
2. Assist with AutoCAD/Solidwork Lab sessions
3. Assist with 3D printing Additive manufacturing Lab sessions – guiding
4. Assist in the preparation of teaching/tutorial/lab materials

The pay rate for Academic Year 2025-26

• XJTLU PhD students: CNY60/hour (before tax)
• XJTLU Master’s students: CNY50/hour (before tax)
• PhD and Master’s students from other universities: CNY50/hour (before tax)
