Ming Xu was enrolled in the Gifted Young Class of Xi’an Jiaotong University (see C9 League) in 1985. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in telecommunications from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 1989 and 1992, respectively, and the Ph.D degree in electronic and electrical engineering from University of Birmingham, U.K., in 2001.
He was a lecturer at Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1992-1996, and had been a research fellow with City University, London, and Kingston University for EPSRC and European Commission Projects since 1999. Then he worked with Department of Engineering at University of Cambridge before joining Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2007. He is a PhD supervisor and an honorary associate professor in University of Liverpool.
He was a recipient of the Overseas Research Students (ORS) Award from Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals, U.K., in 1996-1999, a second-class Science and Technology Award from Ministry of Education of P. R. China in 1997, and an IET Premium Award from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in 2012.
