The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University created this video to share aspects of the culture in our surrounding area through an introduction to traditional springtime food. Suzhou, as a major cultural centre in China for more than a thousand years, has retained many of its traditions through today. This video is the first in a series that will explore local customs, history, and lifestyle.
It displays the ideas and inspirations of students in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences who co-produced, acted, filmed, wrote scripts, and performed voice-overs throughout the production process: Ruotong Jia, Jingyi Zhang, and Baoyi Wang, all undergraduates in Media and Communication Studies, and Jingyi Yang, an undergraduate in English and Communication Studies. Dr Xi Liu from Department of China Studies provided valuable guidance.
