Dr Ying Chang's main research area is housing, community development and well-being.

Dr Ying Chang has provided consultancy service for the World Bank and local government on housing, urbanisation and development. She also served as community planner for local community.

Ying's main teaching and research philosophy is capability approach, equal access and justice.
