叠层OLED技术发明人之一,2000年12月至2009年3月任美国柯达公司研发部研究员,2009年3月加盟苏州大学,同年入选国家“千人计划”。廖教授申请各国专利270多项(含中国专利申请100多项,美国专利申请58项),获授权的中国专利40多项,获授权的美国专利42项;发表SCI学术论文270多篇,论文的引用次数为6000多次(H-index = 38)(Web of Science),2014年至2017年连续四年进入Elsevier发布的“中国高被引学者榜单”; 发明了具有全有机连接层结构的叠层(Tandem)OLED,制备了高性能的OLED显示器件和OLED照明器件,曾为美国柯达公司OLED显示和照明技术的发展做出过重要贡献;回国后,主持设计和制造了大面积OLED的中试装备,并且制备了国内发光面积最大的OLED白光照明面板;制备了高效率低铅钙钛矿太阳能电池(PSC)、高效有机太阳能电池(OPV)、高效量子点发光二极管(QLED)和高效近红外有机发光二极管(NIR OLED)。近年来,共主持8项国家科研课题,其中包括主持国家“863”计划重大项目课题1项,国家重点研发计划项目1项,国家科技重大专项(02专项)子课题1项,主持国家自然科学基金重点项目1项、国际(地区)合作与交流项目1项、面上项目3项。

One of the inventors of tandem OLED technology, he was a researcher in R&D Department of Kodak Corporation from December 2000 to March 2009. He joined Soochow University in March 2009 and was selected as the National "Thousand talent Program" in the same year. Professor Liao has applied for more than 270 patents (including more than 100 patents from China and 58 patents from the United States), more than 40 authorized patents from China and 42 authorized patents from the United States. He published more than 270 SCI academic papers, which has been cited more than 6,000 papers (H-index = 38) (Web of Science) continuously from 2014 to 2019. Four years he has been elected into Elsevier's "List of China's Highly Cited Scholars"; He has made an important contribution to the development of OLED display and lighting technology of Kodak Company in the United States. After returning home, he has prepared the largest OLED white light illumination panel in China. High efficiency and low lead perovskite solar cell (PSC), high efficiency organic solar cell (OPV), high efficiency quantum dot light emitting diode (QLED) and high efficiency near infrared organic light emitting diode (NIR OLED) have been prepared. ) In recent years, he has presided over eight national scientific research projects, including one major national 863 project, one key national R&D project, one major national science and technology project (02 project), one key national natural science fund project, one international (regional) cooperation and exchange project.
