The School of Internet of Things aims to build win-win collaborations with industry partners by connecting real industrial challenges with AIoT research, student innovation, project-based learning, co-op and internship opportunities, and applied research.
Our goal is to help partners explore emerging technologies, develop prototypes, engage student talent, and build long-term collaboration pathways. At the same time, students gain meaningful exposure to real industry problems and develop the ability to design, deploy, and evaluate AIoT systems in practical environments.
Our Collaboration Model
Industry collaboration at the School of IoT is designed as a flexible collaboration hub rather than a one-size-fits-all membership model. Depending on partner needs, collaboration may take the form of sponsored projects, student innovation projects, co-op and internships, company-sponsored PhD topics, TIX-PhD initiatives, joint labs, or applied AIoT validation platforms.

Partners may provide project topics, internship positions, mentoring, workplace learning, or co-op opportunities.

Faculty and industry partners work together on AIoT, edge intelligence, sensing, cybersecurity, smart manufacturing, healthcare, smart city, and infrastructure problems.
Company-Sponsored PhD and TIX-PhD
Longer-term industry problems may be developed into doctoral research topics through company-sponsored PhD projects or TIX-PhD initiatives.
Joint Labs and Applied Validation Platforms
Strategic partners may collaborate with the School to build joint labs, testbeds, demonstrators, or validation platforms.
Industry Collaborative Research Centre
The School is developing an Industry Collaborative Research Centre to serve as a hub for industry-sponsored research, student innovation projects, co-op and internships, company-sponsored PhD projects, TIX-PhD initiatives, joint labs, and applied AIoT validation.
The Centre will connect faculty expertise, industry needs, doctoral training, student project development, and real-world deployment. It will help partners move from problem definition to prototype development, validation, and long-term collaboration.
IP and Collaboration Agreements
For joint research and industry-sponsored projects, intellectual property, confidentiality, publication rights, and commercialization pathways will be addressed through project-specific agreements in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
