Smart Home Simulation Area

The experimental area provides a complete smart home environment, equipped with infrared converters, smart lights, security systems, etc. Corresponding equipment and technologies for the sensor layer, network layer and application layer of the Internet of Things can be found in this space for students to build their own networks and carry out practical training on wireless sensor networks.

The Lab is designed to serve both teaching research purposes. For teaching, it provides a practical IoT scenario for students to develop useful IoT application prototypes and it allows the students to test their prototypes in a simulated environment. For research, the Lab has a testing environment to validate relevant IoT theories and engineering methodologies towards the future smart home applications. Researchers can not only develop new devices/systems in the simulated home environment, but also collect data for relevant research such as indoor positioning, falling detection and smart home security.
