Accreditation

Accreditation

XJTLU’s BEng Civil Engineering, BEng Architectural Engineering, MSc Civil Engineering, and MSc Sustainable Construction have all been accredited by the world’s leading professional body, the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), making XJTLU the first Sino-British university in China to receive JBM accreditation for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The JBM is made up of four major professional associations in the UK civil engineering sector: the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institution of Highway Engineers. JBM accreditation also means that our civil engineering degrees meet international quality standards, giving graduates an additional advantage when applying for further accreditation by international professional bodies.

Students who obtain a JBM-accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree and a Master’s degree that satisfies further learning requirements will automatically meet the educational requirements of a Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom, without the need for additional academic assessment.

JBM accreditation also means that these degree programmes can further apply for professional accreditation under the European Accreditation Scheme for Engineering Education (EUR-ACE). This accreditation will be recognised across the member states of the European Higher Education Area.
