DR WEI CHEN

PD of BEng Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism

I currently serve as an Associate Professor in the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem. Prior to joining XJTLU, I worked across academia as well as industry in China and overseas for over 12 years, including multiple Fortune 500 companies.

I obtained my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Newcastle, Australia. As the principal investigator, I have been awarded multiple research grants from the National Science Foundation China, Ministry of Science and Technology P.R.C., Australian Research Council and industry bodies. I have published over 60 articles in internationally renowned journals, and received multiple provincial and national awards. I practice as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and also serve as a panel member for a number of international journals.

My research interests cover digital manufacturing, advanced sensing technology, numerical modelling and artificial intelligence.  Since joining XJTLU, I have committed to bridging the gap between theoretical-based learning and industry best practices to develop future global talents in the intelligent manufacturing section.

Biography

Dr BONG HWAN OH

PD of BEng Internet of Things Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism

I am an Assistant Professor and one of the founding members of the School of Internet of Things at the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). I received my BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in 2009, 2011, and 2016 respectively.

After receiving my PhD, I worked from 2016 to 2019 as a Research Fellow in the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the Institute for Communication Systems, University of Surrey, UK. I was in charge of the networking team developing systems to enable the deployment of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) based transport networks in the 5G testbed system constructed with various industry partners, such as Huawei and Vodafone. From 2019 to 2020, I was a Senior Researcher in Agency for Defense Development (ADD) which is the only research institute for military technologies in South Korea, and developed an advanced satellite system for military communications.

My research interests cover various areas of networking based on my extensive experience of 5G, IoT, network softwarization, SDN/NFV, transport layer protocols, and satellite communications.

Biography

Dr Maruf Hasan

PD OF BENG DATA SCIENCE AND BIG DATA TECHNOLOGY WITH CONTEMPORARY ENTREPRENEURIALISM

I received my Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Tsinghua University (China), National University of Singapore and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan). Later, I joined the Knowledge Media Institute, UK, as a Research Fellow and conducted pioneering research in Semantic Web and Knowledge Management. Subsequently, as a Senior Researcher, I helped the National Institute of ICT, Japan, expand its R&D networks in Thailand and neighbouring ASEAN countries through academic partnership and industrial collaboration. Since 2004, I have held various academic and senior administrative positions at international universities leading multiple initiatives in curriculum and programme development, accreditation and quality assurance, international collaboration and industry-sponsored skill-development programmes to promote graduate employability and entrepreneurship. I supervised numerous postgraduate theses and undergraduate projects, received various research grants, and published my research regularly in AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity and cognate area. I am committed to promoting quality education and research in computer and data sciences.

I am also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and an IT Practitioner with decades of consulting experience and credentials (PRINCE2, COBIT and ITIL certified), as well as a long-time member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and International Information System Security Certification Consortium, (ISC)².

Biography

Dr Mengyuan xiang

PD OF BSC INTELLIGENT SUPPLY CHAIN with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism

I am an Assistant Professor at the School of Intelligent Finance and Business, Entrepreneur College (Taicang). I obtained my PhD degree in Management Science and MSc degree in Operational Research with Computational Optimization from the University of Edinburgh.

Prior to joining XJTLU, I worked as a Lecturer in Business Analytics at the University of Edinburgh, Business School (15, QS ranking).

My research interests lie in the field of supply chain management, including stochastic inventory control, sustainable supply chain, supply chain of industry 4.0, and supply chain finance. I am focusing on the application of Operational Research techniques in business practice. My research has appeared in high-quality journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research.

Dr Sami Hajjaj

PD of BEng Intelligent Robotics Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism

I have over 22 years of experience in engineering education, research and development, and industrial integration, with a track record in innovation in engineering design, extensive research output, and international professional recognition.

I focus on industrial System Integration, Digitization, and Digital Automation. I have extensive experience and track record in Automation, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Manufacturing Technologies and Strategies. I come from a family of teachers, so education and learning run deep in my blood. I also enjoy working and building with my students. In the past, I helped my students win scholarships, set up engineering-related businesses and develop start-ups. Some of my former students are now my industrial partners and collaborators, and I continue working with them until today.

I am honoured to lead this program. I cannot wait to work with our students, staff, and colleagues to develop Intelligent Robot Systems, integrate solutions with the industry, and create our very own start-ups and enterprises.

DR QIFENG LU

PD OF BENG MICROELECTRONIC SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING WITH CONTEMPORARY ENTREPRENEURIALISM

I work in School of CHIPS as an Assistant Professor. I received my PhD degree from University of Liverpool. Before joining XJTLU, I worked as a post-doc in Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, CAS. I am a fellow of UK Higher Education Academy and a senior member of Chinese Society of Micro-nano Technology. My research interest covers epidermal electronics and neuromorphic devices and I have contributed to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. I participated in the National Key R&D Program of China as the principal investigator of a sub-task and Central Military Commission Equipment Development Section project as key participant. I am the PI of several national and provincial projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China and Jiangsu Science and Technology Programme.

Dr Shu-Hsiang (Ava) Chen

PD of MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation

I am an Associate Professor and Programme Director of MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Hub (EEH), Entrepreneur College (Taicang). I also serve as a business consultant for domestic and foreign companies and a board member of Chilitag Technology Co., Ltd in Taiwan.

I received my PhDs in Educational Technology & Tourism Management with an emphasis in Technology Management from Chulalongkorn University and Maejo University in Thailand.

Before joining XJTLU, I worked as Associate Professor at Shantou University Business School and ASEAN Marketing Director at Chilitag Technology Co., Ltd. I have eight years of Higher Ed teaching experience and more than a decade of industry work experience with an understanding of digital technology management.

My research focuses on business innovation, technology management, digital marketing, digital transformation, and emerging technology in business applications.

Dr Joe Lo

Undergraduate Director at the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub

I currently serve as the Undergraduate Director at the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub (EEH). In this capacity, I am responsible for the oversight and coordination of all entrepreneurship modules delivered across the various Industry Schools within the Entrepreneur College.

My academic and research pursuits are centered around the domains of service quality, service marketing, food quality, and emotions, with a specialized focus on supporting the growth trajectories of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This expertise has led to the publication of numerous articles in esteemed peer-reviewed international journals, showcasing my commitment to advancing knowledge in these areas.

Beyond academia, I actively engage in collaborative endeavors with entrepreneurial-focused organizations such as the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM), and the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce in China (MAYCHAM). Through these partnerships, I contribute to the advancement of entrepreneurship and business development initiatives on both regional and international scales.
