Features of XJTLU-JITRI Joint Masters Programme

• Graduates will be awarded a master’s degree certificate from the University of Liverpool,recognised by China’s Ministry of Education and globally, and the corresponding certificate from Xi ‘an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.
• It adopts the international application admission procedure. Applicants do not need to take the Chinese national graduate entrance examination.
• Over 90% of academic staff are recruited internationally, providing an international campus environment. All programmes are taught in English, thus preparingstudents to become competitive global citizens.
• The programme follows the UK quality assurance system, with many programmes recognized by the most prestigious academic and professional accreditation bodies.
• The programme features a combination of interest-driven, research-led and interdisciplinary learning, cultivating students’ innovative thinking and lifelong learning ability.
• Joint supervisor mechanism: the Academy adopts a joint supervisor mechanism, which consists of internal academic supervisors and external industrial supervisors recognized by XJTLU Graduate School. The academic supervisors provide students with guidance on academic theories and research methods, while the industrial supervisors provide students with guidance on practical aspects. The joint supervisor mechanism helps students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical projects, conduct their research with high quality, and build up a system of knowledge that can be applied and transformed.
• Participation in industry frontier research projects: The Academy focuses on the real technical needs of the industry, deeply connects with the common technical problems and major technical difficulties of the industry, and condenses the technical needs into postgraduate research projects. Under the guidance of joint supervisor team, students carry out high-level research on cutting-edge industrial topics by making full use of rich industrial resources, advanced research equipment and diversified international academic exchange networks. During the project period, the research institutes also provide students with generous research grants and living allowances.
• Diversified growth and development: In addition to classroom learning and research projects, the Academy works with industry partners to provide students with a series of activities and practical opportunities, including JITRI Lectures, Mobile Classes, JITRI Training Camp, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, etc. Students will have the opportunity to meet with industry experts, and to learn from them. Students will have the opportunity to have face-to-face communications with industry experts, visit leading enterprises and participate in innovation and entrepreneurship practice, so as to realize all-round improvement in industry knowledge, problem-solving ability, leadership, innovative thinking and other comprehensive abilities.
• Priority Employment and Further Study Opportunities within the JITRI System: Students with excellent performance in the period of study will be given priority employment opportunities in JITRI’s research institutes or partner companies after completion of their studies, or have the opportunity to continue their studies and pursue doctoral degrees in joint PhD projects.

Mode of study on XJTLU-JITRI Joint Master Programmes

• Taught modules stage：students will complete six months to one year of taught modules at XJTLU according to the program requirements.
• Mutual Selection:Students will participate in the introduction of joint master projects, and choose the projects and partner institutes or companies by mutual selection process.
• Project research and master dissertation stage：students will conduct their research projects for six months to one and a half years at JITRI’s research institutes or at partner companies while completing their master dissertation under the guidance of their XJLTU and JITRI supervisors.
