DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL STUDIES

Department of Educational Studies

The Department of Educational Studies was established in 2019. It was a sub-unit under the Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD). Since the establishment of the Academy of Future Education in May 2021, the Department of Educational Studies has become a parallel unit at the Academy along with other units.

The Department is guided by a vision to become a globalised education hub cultivating future educators through student-centred, research-led, and innovative experiences in the syntegrative educational environment.

The Department now has more than 10 academic staff members examining a broad array of educational issues, such as lifelong education and professional development, student-centred education and educational experience, technology-enhanced education, education management and leadership, and child development and family education.

PhD supervisors in the Department of Educational Studies are dedicated to mentoring PhD students in the aforementioned research areas.

Educational Studies also hosts an extensive range of postgraduate modules forming two MA programmes: MA Global Education and MA Child Development and Family Education.

The MA Global Education uniquely provides in-depth knowledge, skills, and understanding through both practice- and theory-based modules, enabling its graduates to make a future contribution to shaping tomorrow’s global education needs.

MA Child Development and Family Education aims to help learners gain in-depth knowledge, skills and hands-on experience in child development and family education through the combination of research-led and practice-oriented modules.

It focuses on the cultivation of transferrable skills and innovative thinking to guarantee graduates great success in their future careers, as well as provide the foundation for the home-school-community education paradigm that is rapidly gaining traction throughout society.

In addition, the Department is developing programmes of Doctor of Education (EdD) and MSc Digital Education. Through teaching, research, and public engagement, the academic staff are an integral part of an educational innovation ecosystem that focuses on research, exploration, support, and dissemination of philosophy and best practices for future education.
